Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
