Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games

In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands

The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
